PURPOSE





To provide nutritious food to the most food insecure Scottsboro City School children when not in school.



HISTORY





- Began in the Spring of 2013 with 24 students at Brownwood Elementary in Scottsboro, Alabama

- 9 Consecutive years now of providing food for kids

- Has grown to serve all Scottsboro City Schools (over 300 students during the 2021-22 school year)

- During the pandemic school closure, 420 students were served 3 times per week.



COST OF FOOD





- Average Bag Cost for the 2020-21 school year was $8.00 per bag

- 10,027 bags were packed during the 2020-21 school year

- 1,947 bags were packed during the summer feeding program (bags to Caldwell Summer Program, Boys & Girls Club, Rec-Com Kids Club & Housing Authority)

- 11,974 TOTAL BAGS PACKED
